Giovanni Palatucci, a minor government official in Italy during World War Two. He faked papers to keep Jews safe from the Holocaust, and when he was eventually caught, he had a chance to escape but sent his Jewish fiancee’ instead. Died in Dachau at the age of 36 after saving thousands of lives. What a guy.
